This is a big question from many years, We will guide you through this as per best of our knowledge !
High Pressure Laminate (HPL) and Aluminum HPL are modern surfacing solutions for use in both interior and exterior spaces. Understanding the distinctions between these two materials helps you select the right one based on your specific requirements such as durability and aesthetics.
Difference Between High-Pressure Laminate and Aluminum based High-Pressure Laminate
High Pressure Laminates HPL – Standard High Pressure Laminates consist of several layers of Kraft paper which are impregnated with resin. A layer of decorative paper is then applied which is further coated with a protective layer. Through intense pressure above 1,000 PSI and heat, these layers are fused (Type E & E1). This creates a rigid and thermoset sheet, ideal for usage in Exterior wall panels, etc. HPL’s strong scratch resistance, high impact resistance and good wear resistance makes it a preferred choice for all high-traffic areas. As the material is made up of Kraft paper, this makes the material prone to delamination when it is exposed to sun and rain exteriors. The material starts fading after 4-5 years and there is no scope of bending the standard HPL by 90 degrees if needed. As this HPL is kraft paper based , there are various chances of fungus , bacteria development as there is moisture penetration.
Aluminium High Pressure Laminates AHPL – ReynoArch’sAluminium High Pressure Laminates (AHPL) take HPL to the next level by using a substrate aluminium coil with a double Lumiflon coating. This metal core provides greater resistance to weather, UV stability, and fire retardancy, making AHPL perfect for the facade, elevation and outdoor cladding.
Compared to the regular HPL, the AHPL is having a warranty of 12 Years , it can be bend to 90 degrees if needed, it is 100% Water Proof, 100% Termite Proof, 100% Fire retardant, 100% recyclable, Light weight and easy to install. AHPL comes in wooden, rustic, solid color finishes.
